First Light at Brisco Falls (2016)

Another painting from the Sunday Drive Discoveries Project, generously funded by a grant from the Columbia Kootenay Cultural Alliance. The complete series was shown at Pynelogs Art Gallery in Invermere in 2017. I had to paint the Falls from a reference photo as the path was too narrow and mossy to get my equipment in.

As you hike off the road to see Brisco Falls (you never go there alone the first time--someone takes you there because you're special!), you see this amazing light caressing the mist long before you actually see the falls, although you can hear their thunder.
